On the morning of May 25, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) solemnly held a reception and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with Nanning University (UNN), China. The event marked the beginning of a new phase of strategic cooperation focusing on key areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce, and the development of high-quality human resources for the digital era.
Attending the meeting, representatives from UEH included: Assoc.Prof. Bui Quang Hung - UEH President; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - UEH Vice President; Assoc.Prof. Pham Khanh Nam - Head, Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement; Assoc.Prof. Tran Thi Hai Ly - Vice Rector, UEH College of Business; Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Vice Rector, UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; Assoc.Prof. Tran Phuong Thao - Vice Rector, UEH Honours College.
From Nanning University, the participants included: Prof. Li Dongxue - UNN President; Prof. Wang Tao - Dean, College of Business; Prof. Guan Weili - Executive Dean, College of Digital Economics; Dr. Yuan Jiangtian - Deputy Dean, College of Digital Economics; Ms. Chen Zixi - Staff, Office of Cooperation and Exchange; Prof. Yao Wenyan - Foreign Affairs Secretary, College of Business; Mr. Yang Lifu - General Manager, Xiamen Zaochen Cultural & Creative Co., Ltd.

Overview of the signing ceremony
Delivering opening remarks at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung shared that UEH is currently undergoing a strong transformation into a multidisciplinary and sustainable university, building upon its 50-year history of development. Beyond its strengths in education, UEH also possesses a highly promising academic ecosystem in research and development. Based on this foundation, UEH is gradually establishing a multidimensional cooperation network that extends beyond the university campus to include government and non-governmental organizations, educational associations, multinational research and consulting institutions, and professional associations.
Regarding the prospects for collaboration, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung expressed his impression of Nanning University’s strengths in the transportation infrastructure and logistics sectors, which are receiving significant attention from the governments of both countries, while Vietnam is currently in great need of high-quality human resources in new technologies.

Representing UNN, Prof. Li Dongxue expressed his honor at collaborating with a prestigious, large-scale educational institution such as UEH, while emphasizing that the friendship between Vietnam and China serves as an important foundation for this partnership. With UNN’s strengths in transportation, logistics, and AI applications, Prof. Li Dongxue expressed his desire to work with UEH to develop new cooperation models, ranging from student exchange programs to joint AI research initiatives that serve cross-border economic development and business communities in both countries.

In an open and practical exchange atmosphere, leaders of the two universities agreed on several key directions for cooperation, including the pilot implementation of dual-degree programs and multilingual short-term certification programs in Vietnamese, English, and Chinese. In addition, UEH and UNN expressed special interest in cross-border research projects, particularly those related to AI applications in the digital economy.
At the same time, the two sides discussed establishing a “Joint Education and Industry Center” to connect education with business practices, as well as implementing a “Mini-MBA” program for Chinese enterprises operating in Vietnam.

The event not only marked the official start of a strategic partnership but also demonstrated both sides' commitment to realizing the agreed-upon cooperation initiatives. Based on this agreement, the two universities expect to expand international academic collaboration, promote innovation, and jointly address practical challenges in engineering and technology.
