New UEH Publications Alert (Week 2 – August 2026): Placing People, the Environment, and Technology at the Heart of Interdisciplinary Research

From Institutions and the Environment to Global Financial Challenges

Academically, UEH scientists have approached contemporary socio-economic issues through a range of advanced analytical frameworks and institutional perspectives. In particular, the studies focus on clarifying the relationships between economic growth, inequality, climate policy, and financial stability.

• Environment & Inequality: Research on the Distributional Environmental Kuznets Curve (DEKC) extends the traditional approach by examining the distribution of the carbon emissions burden across income groups. The study thereby provides further evidence of the relationship between economic growth and environmental inequality.
• Climate Policy & Governance: Analyzing the development of climate policy and governance in Vietnam over more than three decades, thereby highlighting the transition from climate issue recognition to the development of policy, legal, and financial mechanisms aimed at strengthening resilience.
• Finance & Corporate Risk: Assessing the impact of banking competition on corporate default risk in emerging ASEAN economies, providing further empirical evidence of the relationship between financial market structure and corporate resilience.

Putting People and Behavior at the Center of Research

Another notable feature of this week's publications is UEH's expansion of research into psychological factors, behavior, and human values in the workplace and consumer contexts.

• - Psychology & Employee Well-being: The concept of NanoMindfulness is developed to explain how brief mindfulness practices lasting only a few seconds during work can support emotional regulation, reduce stress, enhance resilience, and improve the performance of frontline employees.
• - Ethical Consumption: Research on neurophysiological signatures in ethical consumer decision-making helps explain the gap between responsible consumption intentions and actual behavior, thereby expanding understanding of the emotional and cognitive mechanisms underlying consumer decisions.
• - People & Meaningful Work: Research on female farmers in rural northern Vietnam explores how meaningful work is formed and sustained in contexts shaped by social norms, family responsibilities, and the desire to contribute to the community.

Expanding Applications from EdTech to Agriculture

UEH's interdisciplinary research approach is further demonstrated through studies connecting technology with education, agriculture, and economic development.

• - Education & Technology: The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is applied to analyze how perceived usefulness, ease of use, and digital literacy influence engagement and learning outcomes in health sciences education. In addition, research on speaking and listening skills among second-language learners highlights the role of teaching methods suited to the developmental characteristics of young learners.
• - Agriculture & Sustainable Development: Research on agricultural producer cooperatives in transition economies examines the role of organizational structures, technological adoption, and institutional contexts in shaping economic performance, productivity, and sustainability.

These research directions demonstrate the ability to connect knowledge in economics and management with technology, education, and applied sciences, creating highly adaptive solutions to practical challenges.

Multidimensional and In-depth Methodologies

To address complex research questions, UEH research teams have implemented a diverse methodological system combining:

• - Quantitative Research & Big Data: Analyzing large-scale corporate datasets, long-term panel data, and international data to assess economic, financial, and environmental relationships.
• - Qualitative Research & Policy Analysis: Examining legal and policy documents and conducting in-depth interviews to analyze institutional changes, climate governance, and meaningful work within specific social contexts.
• - Applied Science & Engineering Models: Integrating dynamic models, engineering simulations, and applied scientific methods to address technological and engineering challenges.

The combination of large-scale data, qualitative analysis, and applied scientific models has generated research that is both academically rigorous and capable of providing valuable practical evidence for businesses, policymakers, and communities.

Creating Knowledge for Sustainable Development

Overall, the publications in Week 2 – August 2027 further affirm UEH's multidisciplinary research capacity and academic orientation toward major contemporary societal challenges. From climate change, inequality, and financial risks to employee well-being, digital education, and sustainable agricultural development, these studies demonstrate a strong connection between academic knowledge and practical needs.

Through these efforts, UEH continues to contribute valuable scientific evidence to the international community while promoting solutions aimed at resilience, innovation, and sustainable development in Vietnam and the region.
